WhatsApp said last week that, starting February 22nd, it will start seeing some small ads in the app regarding their new privacy terms which will take effect on May 15th.
WhatsApp did not publicly disclose the jobs they would lose, but North American media, TechCrunch, had access to an email that WhatsApp sent to one of its business partners specifying that users who do not accept the new policy on the specified date will not be able to read or send messages from the application. But they will still receive notifications and calls.
The email does not specify when these features will begin to be removed from those who block acceptance of the new policy, but it does say that these measures will be in effect for a short time.
TechCrunch also states that WhatsApp has confirmed these measures based on what is planned for the next few months regarding the new privacy policy.
WhatsApp has confirmed on several occasions that no user will lose their account on May 15 if they do not accept the new privacy policy, but that does not mean that it will not delete your account in the coming months. The company states on its official website that if you do not accept the new policy before May 15th, your account will be included in its policy on inactive users. Thus, all accounts will be deleted if they remain inactive for more than 120 days in order to maintain security, limit data retention, and protect users' privacy.
